Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Rootstead iPhone app and the rootstead.app website (together, the "Service"), operated by Hubr AI ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. What Rootstead is
Rootstead reads documents you photograph, extracts and files their contents, reminds you about key dates, and answers questions grounded in your own records. It is an organizational tool for your household.
2. Eligibility and your account
You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live (and at least 13). You can use the app without an account; you may optionally claim your vault with your email address and a one-time code. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address secure — it is how your vault is recovered.
3. Your content
The documents you capture and the records built from them are yours. You grant us only the limited license needed to operate the Service: to store, process, display, and transmit your content to you and your household, including through the service providers named in our Privacy Policy. We claim no other rights to it. You are responsible for having the right to capture the documents you upload.
4. AI accuracy — important
Rootstead uses machine reading and AI extraction. It can be wrong. Rootstead shows a confidence level for each field, flags what it is unsure of, and lets you correct any field — but you should verify important values (numbers, dates, names) against the original document before relying on them. The Service does not provide legal, medical, financial, or insurance advice.
5. Reminders — important
Reminders are a convenience, not a guarantee. Notifications can be delayed, disabled, or missed. Do not rely on Rootstead as your only safeguard for critical deadlines such as visa expirations, policy renewals, or legal filing dates.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload content you have no right to hold or that is unlawful;
- attempt to access another household's data or probe the Service's security;
- reverse engineer, resell, or misuse the Service or its AI features;
- use the Service to violate anyone else's privacy or rights.
7. The Service may change
Rootstead is under active development. Features may change, be added, or be removed. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your vault (see the Privacy Policy).
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that extracted data will be accurate or complete.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hubr AI will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service — including losses caused by inaccurate extraction or missed reminders. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of US$50 or the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction — to be confirmed], without regard to conflict of laws principles, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
11. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means the updated terms apply.
